Bellinto, a Ligurian village situated at the confluence of the Rhône and the Durance (two important French rivers) had to undergo Celtic, Roman, Barbarian and Saracen invasions during the first centuries of its existence.
Bellinto thus moved from the plain to the highnesses sheltered by the protective ramparts and became Barbentane eleven centuries ago.
Throughout the following centuries, many famous historical characters such as Pope Urban V, François the 1st, the Cardinal of Richelieu and King Louis XIV stopped by our village.
Follow their traces by strolling in the streets of Barbentane where you will discover the Anglica Tower and the Séquier’s door. Other remarkable sites include the Montagnette (a beautiful forest of pines), the church, the House of the Knights, the Calendale door and the Town Hall. Last but not least, don’t forget to stop by the Castle of Barbentane, also known as “the little trianon of the sun”. It is still occupied by the Marquee
